About DrillAlign
DrillAlign is a practical DIY resource focused on one thing: helping you drill straighter, cleaner holes
(without guessing, without rework, and without needing a full drill press setup).
Who’s behind this site

Written by: Ben Carver (Editor at DrillAlign)
I’m a DIY-focused tool reviewer who cares about accuracy and repeatability —
the boring details that stop projects from turning into “measure twice, drill three times.”
This site is built for beginners who want straight holes, clean hardware installs, and fewer mistakes.
What you’ll find here
- Buyer guides for drill guides, jigs, and drill bits (with clear “don’t buy wrong” advice).
- How-to guides for straight holes, angled holes, clamping, layout, and clean starts.
- Troubleshooting for drift, wobble, tearout, blowout, and misaligned hardware.
How we choose products (our methodology)
We focus on practical use-cases and real-world constraints. We don’t claim lab testing or fake measurements.
Instead, we combine hands-on setup knowledge, manufacturer documentation, and patterns from real user feedback
to highlight what actually matters for accuracy.
- Stability first: rigid parts and solid clamping matter more than “extra features.”
- Use-case fit: portable drilling, repeatable plunges, small parts, and round stock are different jobs.
- Failure points: we call out flex, wandering starts, awkward fences, and poor bushings.
- Clarity: each recommendation explains when it’s a great choice — and when it’s the wrong tool.
